It Means No Worries!

“It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!” – The Lion King

With all this self-isolation business my husband and I have been watching a lot more movies than we normally do. And we love movies so that’s saying a lot! Hey it’s 2:00 and I’m finished with work, should we watch a movie? It’s 11:00pm, but is that too late to start a movie? Just woke up…can we watch a movie?

I’ve always found something comforting in watching movies. For two hours you can shut out the world and laugh, cry, sing, or solve a mystery. And now, more than ever, I find myself wanting to shut out the outside world as much as I can. Everything feels negative recently, don’t you think? You can’t even check Facebook without things getting overwhelming.

And what do we do when things get overwhelming? Turn to Disney! Or…is that just me?

Those animated Disney movies are just the best! And what Disney movie is complete without an irrelevant song sung by the sidekick of the move? “Be our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Under the Sea” in The Little Mermaid, “A Girl Worth Fighting For” from Mulan… are you singing along yet?

But of course, without a doubt, the best sidekick song in the history of Disney movies is “Hakunna Matata” from The Lion King! You can argue with me, but you’ll be wrong. It’s a fun song right after one of the saddest moments in a Disney movie, we get to hear some funny jokes, we watch Simba grow up, and we learn a little about life!

With everything going on, do you have a lot of worries right now? I know I do.

Let this song be your motto today!

When something upsets you or worries you today, just think “no worries.” If it is still an issue tomorrow, then take care of it without worry. But don’t let this phrase be an excuse for laziness, either! You can still accomplish all your tasks for the day and be productive without worrying so much about the outcomes and what lies ahead.

Just live in the moment, and enjoy a day of Hakuna Matata!

Psalm 55:22 “Cast all your burdens on the Lord, and the Lord will sustain you; the Lord will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on God, because God cares for you.
